The Southern BEE Alliance is a Black and Indigenous People of Color birth and child care worker-owned cooperative committed to empowering maternal and perinatal professionals throughout the Carolinas.
Through community, education, and cooperative support, the Alliance embraces and uplifts the diverse traditional wisdom embedded in our communities.

About the Alliance
About the Alliance The Southern BEE Alliance, also known as the Southern BEE Birthing Entrepreneurship Empowerment Alliance, is a cooperative created by and for birth workers and early childhood educators. Its work is rooted in building stronger systems of support for Black, Latino, and Indigenous families while creating sustainable pathways for the professionals who serve them.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower maternal and perinatal professionals in the Carolinas while embracing and uplifting the diverse traditional wisdom embedded in our communities.By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, the Alliance enables birth and child care workers to thrive and offer culturally responsive care that honors our heritage.

Who We Serve
Birth Workers
We offer opportunities for training, mentorship, and collaboration for birth workers committed to culturally responsive care and community-rooted support.
Child Care Workers
We support child care professionals who want to strengthen their practice, expand their tools, and serve families through high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally grounded care.
Movement-Building Organizations
We support organizations that need aligned child care, birth work, and community care support for events, trainings, retreats, and collective work.

Strength in CommUNITY
SBA members are doulas, birth workers, child care providers, healers, and community allies committed to building sustainable careers, cooperative economies, and nurturing freedom for Black and Brown families in the South.
SBA Learning Community
The SBA Learning Community is a designated learning space facilitated by the Southern BEE Alliance for those interested in becoming members of the cooperative, as well as those who want to deepen their knowledge and sharpen their professional tools. This space offers regular learning and courses on topics including: cooperatives governance and structure leadership birthwork child care wellness healing justice community building The Learning Community is designed not only to strengthen your professional practice, but also to provide wellness support and deepen your knowledge of cooperatives before membership. Participation in this learning community is a requirement for membership. However, you do not have to be a member to participate.
